Voice Recording

Use voice recording when it is easier to talk than type. Maximum length depends on your plan.

Start A Recording

1. Open Recordings.
2. Tap the microphone button.
3. The recorder opens in idle state.
4. Tap the main recorder control to start recording.
5. Speak normally.
6. Tap pause if you need a break.
7. Tap resume to keep going.
8. Tap stop when you are done.

The Recordings screen does not start recording by itself. You decide when recording begins.

Recording Keeps Going — Even When You Switch Apps

On the Android app, recording continues no matter what you do on your phone:

• Switch to another app — recording continues
• Lock your phone — recording continues
• Browse the web — recording continues
• Screen turns off — recording continues

A notification bar shows "Recording in Progress" with the elapsed time. Recording only stops when you:

• Tap the Pause button
• Tap the Done button
• Reach your plan's recording limit

On web (browser), keep the Proset tab visible while recording. Browsers may pause microphone access when the tab is hidden.

Important Device Settings

These settings apply to the Android app.

Some Android phones pause background apps to save battery. This can stop your recording unexpectedly, even with the notification showing. The steps vary by manufacturer and are most critical on brands common in the US and Mexico.

If recording stops when you switch apps or lock your phone, find your phone brand below:

Google Pixel / Stock Android (Motorola, BLU, Nokia, ASUS)

Motorola and BLU use near-stock Android and follow the same steps as Pixel.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset → App battery usage
2. Select Unrestricted

Samsung (all Galaxy models)

The most common Android brand in both the US and Mexico.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset → Battery
2. Select Unrestricted
3. Also go to Settings → Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits
4. Add Proset to Never sleeping apps

Motorola (separate from stock Android on some models)

On newer Moto devices with Moto Actions or Moto Gametime:

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset → Battery
2. Select Unrestricted
3. If available, open the Moto app → Gametime and add Proset as an exception

Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO

Very common in Mexico. MIUI/HyperOS is aggressive with background apps.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Proset
2. Enable Autostart
3. Under Battery saver, select No restrictions
4. Open the Security app → Battery → App battery saver → Proset → No restrictions

OnePlus / OPPO / Realme

Growing presence in Mexico and the US.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset → Battery usage
2. Select Allow background activity
3. Under Settings → Battery → More battery settings → Optimize battery use
4. Find Proset and select Don't optimize

Huawei

Still in use in Mexico despite the US trade restrictions.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset → Power usage details
2. Set App launch to Manage manually with all three toggles ON
3. Under Settings → Battery → App launch, find Proset and disable automatic management

ZTE / Alcatel / TCL

Common budget phones in Mexico. May use near-stock Android or custom software.

1. Open Settings → Apps → Proset
2. Look for Battery or Power management options
3. Set to No restrictions or Don't optimize
4. If available under Settings → Battery, add Proset to protected apps

LG

Phones still in use in both markets even though LG exited the mobile business.

1. Open Settings → Apps & notifications → App info → Proset → Battery
2. Disable Battery optimization or select Don't optimize
3. If available, disable Background restriction

General Tips For All Android Phones

• Turn off Battery Saver during long recordings
• Charge your phone or keep it above 20% battery
• Close other apps that use the microphone (voice assistants, other recorders)
• On phones with RAM management or Memory boost features, add Proset to the exclusion list

Recording Limits

Plan	Maximum Recording Length
Free	3 minutes
Base	15 minutes
Pro	30 minutes

Recordings save automatically when you stop or reach the limit.

After You Stop

Proset saves and uploads the recording, then starts cloud transcription. The complete transcript appears when processing finishes.

Next steps:

1. Open the saved recording.
2. Check the transcript.
3. Create a conversion.

Tips

• You do not need a perfect script.
• It is okay to ramble.
• Speak at a natural pace.
• Move away from loud background noise when you can.
• If transcription fails, open the recording and use the retry button. The app retries automatically up to 4 times.
