Keep recording while using another Android app

On Android, Proset uses a foreground service so an active recording can continue when you switch apps or turn off the screen. Android displays a persistent recording notification while the service is active.

Start the background recording​

  1. In Proset, start a voice recording.
  2. Confirm that the timer is advancing.
  3. Switch to another app, lock the phone, or turn off the screen.
  4. Check the Android notification for the active Proset recording.
  5. Return to Proset to pause the recording or tap Done.

The recording also stops when it reaches your plan's maximum length.

Remove battery restrictions if recording stops​

Android manufacturers use different names and menu paths. Open the system settings for Apps → Proset → Battery and select the option equivalent to Unrestricted, No restrictions, or Allow background activity.

Some phones also require one or more of these changes:

  • allow Proset to start automatically;
  • remove Proset from sleeping-app lists;
  • exclude Proset from battery optimization;
  • turn off Battery Saver during long recordings.

Menu names can change after Android or manufacturer updates. Search the device settings for “battery optimization” if the path above is different.

Reduce other interruptions​

  • Keep the phone charged or above 20% battery.
  • Close other apps that are using the microphone.
  • Add Proset to any memory-management exclusion list offered by the device.

These instructions apply to the Android app. In a web browser, keep the Proset tab visible because the browser may suspend microphone access in a hidden tab.
